E-DataXChange is a system within GENActive that allows the same secure channels that pass invoices, payments, quotations, etc to be utilised to transmit and receive virtually any other format of data. This concept uses the same internal systems to transport specialised information between systems external to GENActive.

As an example, two companies who are using GENActive for e-trade (that is, e-invoicing, e-payment, e-banking) may wish to transfer a current stock list from one to another each night at 04:00. E-DataXChange allows this to take place easily and securely without the need for either company to directly contact the other.

E-DataXChange can exchange data of virtually unlimited size, but this make take a long time depending on the narrowest bandwidth of either party. E-DataXChange data is encrypted whilst in transit using 128bit encryption (or higher if specified) so that should it be intercepted by a third party it is useless to them.

E-DataXChange can be used to delivery software, documents, drawings, images, and so on. There is no limitation on the number of or frequency of e-DataXChange packets sent or received.

E-Automation can be used to generate e-DataXChange packets and automatically deliver them to one or more recipients. This can be useful when sending certificates of conformity, delivering purchased software, or updating delivery schedules in responses to changes. E-DataXChange is one of the only GENActive systems that cannot function between non-GENActive customers, that is, both the sending and recipient must be customers of GENActive and have active accounts with us to use the service. However, as it is free of charge to setup a GENActive account then this should not be an obstacle to utilising the service.
